A BIT ABOUT US

The Trumbull Police Cadet Program is open to young men and women ages 14 and not yet 21 years old with an interest in learning more about careers in Law Enforcement. This program provides educational training programs, community service, as well as leadership opportunities.

The Trumbull Police Cadet Program is a part of a larger organization, the North East Regional Law Enforcement Education Association (NERLEEA), which is made up of other State and Local Police Departments throughout the tristate area. NERLEEA works along with several departments to create yearly events for all youth cadets to participate in. Where they compete, socialize and create leadership skills that can continue into their adult lives.

Our History

The Trumbull Cadet Program was created in 2002 and since its conception there has been approximately 180 students who have completed the Cadet Program. This number only continues to grow through the years. The program was initiated as a community service proponent of the Trumbull Police Department. It was developed as another way that the Department could bridge the gap between the Police and the youth of our community. At the time, the DARE program was the only proactive resource that the Town had to reach out to its young population.   As it grew in size and popularity, the Cadet program became a fixture in both the Police Department and the Town. Opening its doors to area youth between the ages of 14 to 21.
