Join The Post

Requirements:

  • Must be between the ages of 13 to 21

  • Must be in good academic standing with your school, maintaining at least a “C” average

  • Must be free of any criminal record

How to Join:

  • Fill out and submit an application for membership

  • Have an interview with Officer/Advisor

  • Successfully complete a background investigation

Applicants may complete application and email to trumbullcadet659@gmail.com or print out and submit in person to the Trumbull Police Department at 158 Edison Road, Trumbull, CT 06611.  Once completed, applicants will be contacted by an Officer / Advisor to schedule an interview.

Completion of the application does not constitute acceptance into the Post. A thorough background check will be conducted, references will be contacted, and an interview of the candidate will be conducted

Parents and Guardians:

The Trumbull Police Cadet Post operates on a youth run basis. The youth members determine the needs and wants of the group. They will plan & invite guest speakers for interested areas of discussion as well as plan trips and activities. In this youth run post, cadets are expected to be self-sufficient to a certain degree. Within our Post there is a cadet ranking system, and the ranking cadets are responsible for disseminating any pertinent information to the rest of the cadets. As a cadet’s leadership skills mature, he or she may have the opportunity to utilize their skills through promotion within the post. Youth members may become Captain, Lieutenant, or Sergeant. This promotion is done on a yearly basis and will consist of a life-like interview experience to help prepare cadets for future experience.

The Trumbull Police Cadet Post is run on a modified "Para" Military basis: having structure, discipline and punctuality. We encourage and endorse physical activity. We offer both in classroom and field experience with hands on learning.
